Hi again, Maksim,

Pan swing does work, but perhaps differently from what you expect:

  • Swing applies a random deviation to the instrument's original panning value (calculated from keymap, defaults, sample pan, etc.). Specifying a pan value in the pattern will simply override this value (including any random deviation).
  • The random amount applied is calculated as a % of the default offset from centre. So if the default is 32 (centre), there is no offset and no random variation (e.g. 100% of 0 = 0).

Now, I can't quite remember how IT2 worked in this regard, but if anyone thinks it was different - or has a more sensible approach - I'd consider changing reViSiT's behaviour. One option, I guess, is to switch from a % to fixed units (0-64), but it should be possible to translate whatever IT files use to faithfully reproduce loaded songs.

Best,
Chris

thank you chris!

i'm shism tracker user and pan swing works there like random option! i think it's a good idea for experimental sound... but in revisit if i offset pan to the right (or to the left), swing working only on right (left) side... not both side... has anybody else some thoughts about it?

sorry for my english again!
peace!

The way it works in Schism is the proposal I described earlier. It makes sense to me - does anyone else have any objections?
