Subject: Free VST host which supports real-time multi-tracked audio?

Hello,

Does this sort of thing exist? Would Audacity, or something like Buzz or even Bidule be able to do this? My knowledge of VST hosts is completely...well, nonexistant.
Quick bit of background - I've been recording my drummer playing and using the free KT Drum Trigger to layer his kick and snare with samples to make them nice and fat using Live. It sounds good. It occured to me that he didn't have to wait til I show up with Live to do this - he could do this with his own laptop and interface. It would also save on system load / inputs on my laptop. Of course, he's not going to spend any money on a full-fledged DAW so I'm wondering if there's a free bit of software that will simply accept the audio on two channels, with a Drum Trigger VST on each, layer the sample and send it back out in real time (standard latency issues aside)? I'm not sure if I'm over-estimating or under-estimating what you can do with a free VST host. I could try to convince him to spend £50 on Reaper, but again that's a lot of functionality that just won't get used. Anyone here do anything like this?

Please help

I didn't find the right solution from the internet.
